Wetterhall was born with dysmelia of his feet, which needed several surgeries to be corrected. Born in Gislaved, Wetterhall has competed as a professional since 2011, competing for prior to the squad's merger with for the 2013 season. He was Swedish national time trial champion in 2009, and is a former winner of the Rás Tailteann, and the Ronde van Drenthe races.
